Mia Riding Bikes

This is sort of a visual running history of my daughter Mia on her bicycles (and even her tricycle) from ages 2 thru 5..

October 2007 (Almost 6 years old)

"The Fenix Girl."  Mia posing with some Fenix L2D flashlights attached to her bike and helmet. She could be maxing out at 525 lumens, there.

August 2007 (Age 5 years and 10 months)

Mia letting Daddy take a few shots without her helmet on.  Don't worry, these were shot on our cul-de-sac street just going around the circle.  She now wears a helmet for 95 percent of her riding (except occasionally our cul-de-sac).  She now has a brand new Giro Flume helmet that actually fits her the way a helmet should.

March 2007 (Age 5 years and 5 months)

Mia riding with a couple of the other 5-year-olds on our street.  These kids can ride!

February 2007 (Age 5 years and 4 months)

Mia goes back to her older, smaller bicycle for a while and learns to ride without training wheels for the first time.  The smaller bike really helped to give her confidence to ride without training wheels and was low enough to the ground that she could easily brace herself with her feet when she needed to.

December 2006 (Age 5 years and 2 months)

Mia riding her new Raleigh with one of the neighborhood kids.

December 2006 (Age 5 years and 2 months)

Mia with her Mommy as she gets her first new bicycle as a Christmas present.  It's a Raleigh Retro 16.

January 2006 (Age 4 years and 3 months)

Mia gets her first helmet (a slightly too large and difficult-to-adjust hand-me-down from her cousin).   As a safety measure, she sometimes wore the helmet while eating breakfast.

December 2005 (Age 4 years and 2 months)

One of our neighbors gave Mia this small bicycle and it was her first "real" bicycle.  The training wheels were in pretty sad shape but they kept her upright.  (Mia and Daddy in the top photo.)

October 2003 (Age 2)

Mia gets her first tricycle on her second birthday.  It would be a while before she could actually ride it, though.  (Sadly, I have not been able to locate photos of Mia actually riding her tricycle.)
