Side Note on Camera Maintenance from Al Ruscelli Photography: The value of good, routine camera maintenance cannot be overemphasized. Any standard single-lens reflex camera that has been in use for 5 to 10 years without a routine inspection for proper shutter speed, exposure, lubrication, and seals could be causing the photographer problems without that person ever being aware that there is a problem. It's sort of like driving a car and never giving it a tune-up. Sooner or later, it's not going to perform the way it should. Just for peace of mind, it's a good idea to take your camera in regularly (at least once every 5 years) to have it checked for proper functions. This is exactly the approach I have adopted. That's not to mention those times when there is an outright malfunction of which you are aware, and you know you need someone to make the fix. If your camera is broken, or you suspect it might not be performing up to par, I suggest taking it in to your local camera repair/service shop for proper technical inspection. In the Houston, Texas area, I've found the best service for my needs to come from the Camera Care Center.
