Canon Flash Setup

(This is my old setup, but it is now essentially the same with a different flash being used and occasionally set up without the external battery, using only AA rechargeable batteries in the flash once in a while.  The umbrella is shown close in to the flash as I often keep in stored in the corner just the way it's shown).

• Redwing Light Stand (the one with that automatically retracts its legs when lifted and automatically deploys the legs when set down).

• Umbrella (which I close and strap with Velcro strips to the light stand when transporting from vehicle to site and back)

• Bogen Umbrella Swivel Adapter

• These photos show the 550EX Flash and Shoe/Mini Stand (the mini stand that comes with the550EX is what I use to attach the flash to the Bogen umbrella swivel adapter).  I currently use the Canon 580EX flash in the same setup.

• Quantum Battery 1+ and Connecting Cord to power the flash (I currently use either a Quantum Turbo Z or if I need to go without the external power just use rechargeable AA batteries in the flash).

• Quantum Battery Clamp (attaches to the light stand and the Quantum battery is clipped onto the clamp).

• I use one 550EX flash (now 580EX flash) on camera (Canon EOS 3 or Canon 1D in previous years,  Canon 1D Mark II currently) as the master flash to control and fire the flash on the light stand.
