We'll, here she is! Our family's
first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. We finally decided on Miss Dreamy
Juliet as her name. And we're very pleased that she's here.
She's a little Blenheim girl, very sweet
and outgoing all at once -- and occasionally feisty in the extreme. More images and some art conversions (like the
first one) follow.

Experiments With Tear Stains, Cream Cheese, and Cucumber
Spa Treatments
(A Mostly Fictitious Recollection of an Event
Revisited from an Earlier Date)
I felt that in using the
"cream cheese" method to treat notorious cavalier tear stains, it was
important to be methodical in my approach. Relax the cavalier.
Apply the towel wrap to the cavalier's head. Place the first soothing
cucumber slices over the cavalier's eyes. When the cavalier falls
asleep, smear a bit of cream cheese on the cucumber slices. Reverse
the cucumber slices (gently!). After 10 to 20 minutes, remove the
cucumber slices. (I'm unclear as to what to do next -- other than to
catch a photo or two.)

Admittedly, something went awry with our plans for
treating Juliet's tear stains.

The Tables Are Turned!
(November 30, 2005)
After all the
months of Juliet sleeping on Mia, Mia is finally getting a measure of revenge.
And comfortably so.

Our Time-Lapse Photography Technique
Catching Juliet In the Act -- Again!
(November 5, 2005)
Our daughter,
Mia, seems perfectly comfortable here. Juliet, it seems, has a harder time
finding that "just right" comfortable position.

The Hurricane Rita Evacuation Team
(With One Team Member Behind the Camera)
(September 21, 2005)
The photo below
actually shows about half of what I took with me while evacuating for Hurricane
Rita. The rest stayed in the car, which was parked in a relatively well
protected, multi-level parking garage below the apartment where Juliet and I
stayed. The whole time I was packing my thought was, 'Whatever I don't
take with me, I might not see again.' It was a very surrealistic
experience, and I thank God that we were spared. All of the following
photos are taken in our friend's apartment, where Juliet and I stayed for 4
days.

"I'll guard this while you go
down for the rest of the stuff."

With Juliet Following the Photographer Around in the Hurricane Rita Apartment
(Sometimes she just moved slightly to keep
facing me, even if I was just slightly changing the angle of my shot.
You'll notice that while some of the shots look almost the same, they're from a
different angle, but Juliet kept scooting her butt around to always face me.
Funny dog...)
