Mia's First Week at Home - Cousin Sophie meets Mia for the first time.
The following photos were taken in Clear Lake Regional Hospital on October 28 and 29, 2001, the day of and day following Mia's birth. Interestingly, Mia was born during the exact hour of the switch to daylight savings time on October 28, so there was some debate in the hospital as to whether she was actually born at 2:26 a.m. or 1:26 a.m. In the end, the wall clock (which had not yet been set back) got the decision, and 2:26 a.m. was her official time of birth. But realistically, the time change had already occurred, making the real time 1:26 a.m. Thus, she seems to be one of those rare children with the peculiar distinction of being born between the hours of 1 a.m. and 1 a.m. on the same day, if you follow the reasoning. Mia weighed in at 6 lb 9 oz and was19 inches long. She has already started off with her mother's beautiful hair, eyes, and nose. I'm sure she has inherited her mother's beautiful heart and mind, too, so I as husband, father and photographer, am one very lucky guy all the way around.
